Sling Media has released a SlingPlayer app for every other platform in the market. Starting today, SlingPlayer for Kindle Fire is going to be available for download from Amazon Appstore.

Amazon released their Kindle Fire tablet earlier last year. This particular tablet has garnered much consumer attention in a short span of time. Some even call it one true competitor to Apple’s insanely popular iPad. Amazon has targeted a very specific niche with the Kindle Fire. By pricing it at $299, they can cater to the market which wants a tablet, but does not want to spend $499 at least, for tablets along the likes of iPad. It has been reported that Amazon sold over 5.5 million units of Kindle Fire last quarter.

There is already a SlingPlayer app for Android tablet. The SlingPlayer for Kindle Fire app is different from the general Android one and both of them should not be confused with each other. The Android version of SlingPlayer is definitely much better in terms of functionality as compared to the Kindle Fire one.

Using the SlingPlayer app on Kindle Fire tablet users will be able to stream live and recorded TV shows on their Amazon tablet. Streaming over WiFi works flawlessly and without any technical glitches. The tablet and the app seem to have no problems in streaming HD video as well. Though many might find the small screen on Kindle Fire unsuited for watching favourite TV shows. The Kindle Fire SlingPlayer app lacks SlingBox guide as well as a remote control interface.

There’s a little downside though. The SlingPlayer app for Kindle Fire costs $29.99, which is a lot of an app! Bear CSS is a web application for creating an “empty” CSS file from an HTML file.

The application, in its core, takes HTML code and deconstructs it, element by element, until the end result — a CSS file with empty values for each class.

Bear CSS is very useful in cases where you want to redesign the whole page or create a separate stylesheet for a page, etc.

PICOL (PIctoral COmmunication Language) is an universal icon set for electronic communication.

The icons were made as a coursework by Melih Bilgil and attempt to provide a standardized way of communicating with application users.

Although some icons are confusing and the license requires attribution, these are the only criticisms about the PICOL icons.

There are about 520 icons altogether in the icon library, and you can generate thousands more with the icon generator.

grunt is a Node command line tool to make some actions easier when making JavaScript projects.

The library makes doing the above actions a lot easier.

grunt features a rather useful way of doing things through tasks. Tasks can be aliased, new tasks can be created, and some globals are used in tasks as well for code shortening (the globals don’t appear too harmful for this project).

Overall, grunt is a well-documented and useful tool for node projects.

Android is a steadily growing mobile operating system. With that laurel comes the possibility of malware attacks on millions of users around the world. Android device users are now exposed to a new kind of malware attack that put them all at risk.

Symantec, a well known name in the security industry, recently revealed that thirteen apps from three developers are the root cause of infection by this malware. It is estimated that these apps have been downloaded fifteen million times around the world, making this the largest malware outbreak in Android history.

This malware has been dubbed Android.Counterclank. It is essentially Trojan horse that can life sensitive information off of an Android device when installed. This information may include the handset maker name, copies of bookmarks as well as web history. Furthermore the culprits behind this malware attack have monetized this intrusion by pushing intrusive as well as unwanted ads to infected Android devices.

iApps7, Ogre Games and redmicapps are the three developers behind these thirteen malware inducing apps, as identified by Symantec. The company believes that these developers are not real publishers and the apps themselves aren’t re-bundled. Usually a re-bundled app is cause of such malware outbreak. It seems as if these developers have only released their apps for the sole purpose of filling people’s Android devices with malware.

The abovementioned apps are available for download absolutely free of cost from the Android Market. Since some of the apps have explicit names and possibly content as well, unsuspecting men seem to be the prime target here. If you have downloaded any one of these thirteen apps by mistake, delete it right now and restore your Android device to factory settings.
