Choco-slider is a lightweight jQuery image slider.
It seems that the biggest advantage to Choco-slider is the size: image galleries and sliders usually weigh around 10kb and more, but Choco-Slider weighs a mere 7 kb.
There are options available, too.
You can choose from three transition effects; make the slider manual; set the time delay between images; turn autopause on/off.
Overall, Choco-Slider is a pretty nice plugin, although reinventing the wheel a little–it makes up for it by having many features for its small size.
