Apple Finally Releases iOS 5 For Download To Public

Finally after being in beta for more than four months, Apple has released iOS 5 to the public. You can now download iOS 5 for your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch straight from Apple, officially and legally.

iOS 5 comes with over 200 new features, these include a brand new Notification Center, iMessage messaging client, iCloud, Twitter integration, Newsstand and Reminders app. These are some of the salient features of iOS 5. As previously mentioned, with over 200 new features iOS 5 is Apple’s most extensive iOS update till date.

iOS 5 is compatible with iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 3G, iPod touch 4G, iPad 1 and iPad 2. There has been a lot of excitement surrounding iOS 5 release. While we have tested iOS 5 betas since June 2011, the general public does not have access to beta firmware. Apple only seeds beta firmware and software to registered developers. The first beta of iOS 5 that was seeded to developers after WWDC 2011 had an immense amount of bugs but held promise of a better firmware. Now the iOS 5 GM firmware that was seeded after iPhone 4S launch event was really a streamlined and almost bug free iOS 5 pre-release version. This final iOS 5 public release is devoid of all such problems and will run smoothly on your supported iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

To install iOS 5 on your supported iOS device, first download iTunes 10.5 for Windows and Mac which was released yesterday. After downloading iTunes 10.5, install it and launch it. Plug in your device to the computer and create a backup. By now iTunes will have prompted you that a firmware update of iOS 5 is available for your device. Just click on Download and Install. iTunes will automatically download and restore iOS 5 on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
