.htTool is a web app for generating .htaccess files.
.htTool combines several best practices of .htaccess writing, such as forcing IE to use the latest render engine, redirect non-www links to www, and even disable hotlinking, which is all very cool if sometimes annoying for the visitor.
The end result can be simply copied and pasted into your existing .htaccess file.
