October 7 was the day when iPhone 4S pre-orders started. Astonishingly just 12 hours since the start of the pre-orders, AT&T alone got over 200,000 pre-orders of the iPhone 4S. Absolutely incredible!
Last year at the release of iPhone 4, a record breaking, 600,000 pre-orders of iPhone 4 were made in just 24 hours. This 600,000 figure included pre-orders from all carriers of iPhone 4 at that time in US, Japan, Germany, France and UK. The iPhone 4S on the other hand, managed to get an astounding 200,000 pre-order requests in half the time as the iPhone 4 and that too through just one carrier, AT&T. The iPhone 4S has 3 carriers AT&T, Verizon Wireless and the newest carrier of Apple, Sprint. The pre-orders made at these carriers of iPhone 4S have not even been counted yet. If AT&T alone managed to get 200,000 pre-order requests, imagine how many pre-orders must have been made at all the other carriers!
Apple has shattered its own record made at the iPhone 4 release last year, by the release of the iPhone 4S. There is no doubt that iPhone 4S is indeed an amazing device. The contributing factors to this phenomenal success have to be the 8 megapixel camera, the A5 dual core processor which is the same one used in iPad 2, as well as up to 8 hours of talk time, dual mode support and HSPA+ compatibility. However, the most contributing factor has to be Siri. Siri has to be the most advanced and innovative voice recognition system ever made, and is probably the only major thing that is making potential buyers excited about the iPhone 4S.
On the other hand, Apple has sold out the initial pre-order stock of iPhone 4S. Those who were lucky enough to pre-order in time, their devices will be shipped on October 14. Those who were not so lucky, will have to wait for an additional 1-2 weeks as this is currently been displayed as the shipping time by Apple on their online store. On October 14, the iPhone 4S will start shipping to seven countries namely UK, USA, Australia, Canada, Japan, Germany and France. Deliveries to another 22 countries will commence from October 28. Seems like the iPhone 4S is turning our to be a hit after all!
