Induction is a “polyglot database client for Mac OS X”.

This tool is meant to aid the understanding and exploring of data.

Induction supports the following databases as of now: PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite, Redis, and MongoDB. You can also write your own extensions for your preferred database types.

The tool is still in an alpha, but a roadmap has it that it’ll have many more features soon enough.

Scout is a Mac/Windows application for using Sass/Compass without using Ruby and the command line.

Basically, Scout brings the well-received Sass/Compass functionality to developers who don’t want to mess with the complexity of Ruby.

The app can output generated CSS to your project folders. You can choose the style of CSS yourself.

Vagrant is a cross-platform application intended for replicating coding conditions and creating a custom development machine.

The idea is that you a) install Vagrant; b) configure the type of machine you want and with what apps; c) start Vagrant and watch it replicate the machine in real time using VirtualBox.

Vagrant is useful in two cases: if you want to create a ‘default’ development setup as a backup or something, or if you are on a team of developers where client-side conditions influence code.

Radi is a design application that produces human-readable HTML5 and JavaScript code.

Radi can be used both for web development and video editing, producing a neat hybrid between a web design app and a video editor.

Radi is pretty straightforward in use as it employs and combines tricks from many powerful desktop apps out there. However, as of now it’s only available for Macs.

Opera Mobile Emulator is a desktop tool for tablet and mobile phone app development.

The emulator has presets for more than 20 mobile phones and tablets, and gives developers the chance to adjust pixel density, input mode, and other settings.

What’s more, Opera Mobile Emulator can be connected with Dragonfly, allowing for much easier CSS/JS debugging.

Juicebox is an application for creating professional and picturesque image galleries.

Juicebox is available in three packages. The first one is free with some drawbacks such as the maximum amount of 50 images per gallery and having a link to the authors appear at the bottom right corner.

However, even with the free version, Juicebox makes for a surprisingly comprehensive gallery creation tool. The app is easy to operate, and allows creating galleries even if you don’t know any code.
