jqDock is a jQuery plugin for creating a Mac-style dock menu.
Dock basically resizes a shrunken image back to its original size.
You can add styling effects; set labels; and make the quality better by adding the second picture if you don’t like how the browser resizes the images.
jQDock is great for web apps or for making an interesting menu, and the huge example section will help you navigate through the plugin easily.
Speakker is an audio player and interface built upon the projekktor video player.
What’s awesome about this plugin is not the pictured playlist (Tame Impala!!), but the myriad features you can add with just a few lines of code.
Speakker is a great if you’re making a band website, as those require a playlist.
You can, of course, style the player. You can also add social links.
What’s not to love? Speakker even has a Flash fallback.
Adapt.js is a javascript for loading CSS BEFORE the user views the page, depending on the platform of the user.
Adapt.js is awesome for loading separate CSS for mobile users; different resolutions; and different platforms.
In case if the (mobile) browser doesn’t support JavaScript, fallback is available.
For example, you might want to fall back to a mobile stylesheet as there are but a fraction of desktop users who disable JavaScript.
Slider Kit is a thoroughly functional, all-round purpose slideshow plugin.
The Slider Kit has a number of useful functions you can put to use.
Some of them: change the start pos; keyboard nav on/off; transition fx change; building a “tabbed” menu.
It even has an API, and all in just 8kb (minified).
You’ll be particularly pleased that the devs have made a number of skins you can upgrade and outright steal from.
Overall, Slider Kit is an awesome and well-built plugin.
With its small size, you’ll probably use it in many future projects once familiar with its inner workings.
Mosaic is a jQuery plugin for creating awesome sliding boxes and captions.
Mosaic differs from other image sliders with some cool options: animations that allow for neat transitions; image preloading; and automated caption generation.
Mosaic is quite the web-2.0ish plugin, and will do for anyone who wants a customizable, stylish gallery plugin.
Nautilus is a jQuery plugin for creating a Google Jules Verne doodle like bathyscaphe animation.
Although the demo animation is far from pretty (some clipping issues it seems), with a nice background picture you can achieve a controllable effect similar to layers in PS.
You can control the plugin via options: set the width of the frame, control animation speed, create waves from pre-made images, and change the properties of the controller.
You’d use this plugin for cool underwater pages, and for making your logo a touch nicer. :)
