Mac OS X Lion was released in July last year. Apple touts it as the world’s most advanced OS. Lion is the first ever OS release that was available for download only. Apple is not selling it in stores, on discs. Mac OS X Lion comes with a plethora of new features such as Launchpad, fullscreen apps etc.

Since its initial release in July, Mac OS X Lion has received several minor updates. These updates don’t actually bring new features. Apple releases minor updates in order to fix various bugs and patch security vulnerabilities. The particular update, Mac OS X Lion version 10.7.3 is no different. It is advised that you download this update at the earliest so that your machine is safe against any bugs or exploits.

Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 release notes:

The OS X Lion v10.7.3 Update includes Safari 5.1.3 and fixes that:

  • Add Catalan, Croatian, Greek, Hebrew, Romanian, Slovak, Thai, and Ukrainian language support
  • Address issues when using smart cards to log into OS X
  • Address compatibility issues with Microsoft Windows file sharing
  • Address an issue printing Microsoft Word documents that use markup
  • Address a graphics performance issue after sleep on some earlier iMacs that use ATI graphics
  • Resolve a Wi-Fi connection issue when waking from sleep
  • Address an issue that may prevent Safari from opening before joining a wireless network
  • Fix a potential issue authenticating to an SMB DFS share
  • Include RAW image compatibility for additional digital cameras

If you have a Mac, it is very easy to get this update. Either you can download Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 from the direct links given below or you can go to the Apple Menu and click on Software Update. A Browser for The People — Raven

Raven is a Mac-only browser that features site-specific browsing — a form of browsing that creates a dedicated browser instance for each of your favorite web apps.

raven A Browser for The People Raven

Raven runs on WebKit — one of the safest and fastest browsing engines in the world.

The browser features a ‘smart bar’ which enhances your productivity by adding extra features to websites you regularly use.

One of the key functions to Raven is its history panel, which allows you to quickly find pages you visited before, and preview them easily.

Raven also divides between ‘favorite’ pages and ‘bookmarks’, with favorite sites being regularly used bookmarks, but ordinary bookmarks are treated as pages you’ll simply want to read later, and that is a distinction I’ve personally been longing for.

Although some of the features that Raven claims as “new” — such as address suggestions and searching in your web history — are in fact implemented in other browsers (think Chrome), Raven does make a great leap forward as a browser that’s intended for the websites that users use most often, not for simply providing all-round functionality.

New 2012 Macbook Pro Models Expected To Release Soon

As existing 2nd-gen Core processor and Thunderbolt touting Macbook Pro supplies are constrained, it is possible that new 2012 Macbook Pro models will be releasing soon. It was reported early in the year that a total redesign of Macbook Pro was expected.

Sources indicate that the current models of Macbook Pro are severely constrained following the fact that inventory everywhere is alarmingly thin. However, there’s only one reason why this happens, and that’s when a new model is about to be released. There’s no logic in Apple not meeting constrained inventory, such an instance only arises when new models are on the horizon.

It turns out that Apple’s internal inventory system has been updated and it refers to new Macbook Pro models, possibly those destined for release in 2012. The best thing is that new models have come up for all variants of Macbook Pro which include 13, 15 and 17 inch models. Apple shall ship two 13 inch models, two 15 inch models, and one 17 inch model.

However those who are expecting a full Macbook Pro redesign are not going to be happy because apparently these 2012 new Macbook Pro models are going to retain their existing shape and all of the changes will be made under the hood. Obviously, there will be faster processors powering the new Macbook Pro models as well Bluetooth 4.0 which Apple already ships in its latest Macbook Air models.

Internal code names for 2012 MacBook Pro models are K90IA (13 inch), K91A (15 inch), and K92A (17 inch). If you’re wondering why the letter A exists in these codenames, that is merely to identify that these Macbook Pro models are minor updates.

No word on the release date of these new Macbook Pro models as of now, however it is expected that they might be released in early 2012. Don’t rule out the possibility of a late 2011 release as well. We’ll bring you more on this, as it comes in.
