A Powerful And Flexible Blogging Engine – Chyrp

Chyrp is a lightweight, PHP-powered blogging engine that’s easy to extend and maintain.

Chyrp comes with a beautiful default template, and actually has quite a lot of themes for a relatively unknown CMS.

Notable features include: import old posts from WordPress/Tumblr; as well as user management features that really make Chyrp stand out among other smaller CMSes.

The blogging engine is well-documented and seems simple enough to use to at least give it a try.

A Simple And Light CMS – Anchor

Anchor is a relatively new and interesting content management system.

anchor A Simple And Light CMS Anchor

Anchor is interesting as it provides basic, yet highly-customizable functionality set within about 200 kilobytes of code.

A most particular feature is the ability to do custom posts, as you can include any JavaScript and CSS within a post.

The CMS seems to be fast and extendable, so do check this one out if you’re looking for a minimalist CMS.

The Anchor CMS demo is available here, u/p – admin/password.

A Simple And Engaging CMS – Kotti

Kotti is an interesting new content management system that runs on Python.

kottidemosite A Simple And Engaging CMS Kotti

Kotti is by itself rather simple, as even expected features — like a post archive and date publishing — are missing; however, as the CMS was written with extend-ability in mind, Kotti seems legit for a GitHub fork and some work.

The CMS features an interesting permission system, with user permissions being handed to areas of a website instead of specific actions.

Kotti would likely do well to provide more features out of the box. The CMS still provides a solid starting ground, though.

Odesk-like Job Board Script – jobberBase

jobberBase is a free script that allows you to build your own job board.

jobberBase, however, doesn’t provide oDesks’s useful desktop interface, but is useful for many either way.

Features that ship with this script include RSS feeds, javascript widgets, location management, and more.

With some updates, you can easily turn jobberBase into a quite powerful job board.

Static Blog Generation In Python – mynt

mynt is a Python-based static website generation tool.

mynt allows generating the simplest of blogs.

Its features include generating websites (SASS is supported, too) through any preferred markup, as well as automatic archive page generation.

Overall, mynt seems like a thought-through project–its excellent documentation helps a lot as well.

A Social Content Management System – JSLardo

JSLardo is a interesting “social” CMS, based on NodeJS and mongodb; it uses Jade for templates.

jslardo A Social Content Management System JSLardo

jslardo requires users to register and allows them to create not only content, but create models, views, websites and pages.

That’s indeed an interesting sidestep from the usual way content management systems run–and only time will show whether the “JSLardo” way will become popular.
